You're Kidding, Right?
No, you can get the first CD for free. It's a short story. With my first CD I created a three song "Sampler" CD and offered it for free. When I ran out of those I was short on cash and didn't want to spend more money on what was already a money-losing proposition. So I figured I'd end the offer. But when you have CDs duplicated you can have the duplicator send you the over-runs (the CDs left over after they've put the disks together with their booklets and cases). They come all by themselves on a spindle, so you can't really sell them. I had hundreds sitting around the house. Another sampler request came in... What the heck. I started sending out the over-runs, the full CDs, instead of the samplers. And when I ran out of those I bit the bullet and ordered more of the full CD on spindles. Why go through all that bother to send out a CD with only three songs on it?
